How AI reads BambooHR applications
The AI doesn't look for exact keywords. It compares backgrounds and skills to the job's criteria, which surfaces a candidate even when they described their experience in different words. For each candidate, you see the score broken down criterion by criterion.
The reading is there to save you time, not to decide for you. You're free to move forward with a candidate ranked lower, and the candidate profile keeps your notes, your tags and the conversation history.
Prescreen by text and by phone
For shortlisted candidates, the SMS prescreening agent sends a first message, introduces itself as an AI and asks for the candidate's consent. It then asks the job's questions in a real conversation, follows up when an answer is vague and spots answers that contradict each other. The conversation can also happen on WhatsApp.
If there's no reply after two follow-ups, the voice prescreening agent calls the candidate. If the person still can't be reached, you're notified and you take over. When the answers fit, the agent offers a meeting in your real open slots, thanks to the calendar synced with Outlook and Teams.
Example: a French subsidiary hiring its first sales rep
The French subsidiary of an international software company uses BambooHR and is hiring its first sales rep. Applications arrive in Delectus, ranked on B2B sales experience and industry. The SMS agent checks the interest, availability and salary expectations of shortlisted candidates. Interview questions are prepared from the job, with their scoring criteria. During the video call, the transcript scrolls by and the tool suggests follow-up questions on topics not yet covered. The write-up by topic is ready at the end, and the recording stays available to listen back.
Read-only BambooHR integration: your data stays protected
Nothing is changed in BambooHR. Delectus only picks up what relates to recruiting, meaning jobs, applications and resumes, and leaves your employees' HR data aside.
The imported information is hosted in the European Union and isn't used to train any model. Candidates know they're talking with an AI, and none of them is set aside without a human decision.
